From 1788 to 1968, various parts of modern-day Edofasia were under Candanadian rule, initially as the Colony of Edofasia (Kanadiaans: Volkssiedlung Edofasien; Edofasian: Coilíneacht na hÉidobhasia). After the First Edofasian Crisis of 1914 to 1916, where Edofasian nationalist militias declared the colony's independence as the Confederacy of Edofasia, the Candanadian colonial government in Thüle lost control of the western portion of the colony. The parts remaining under Candanadian rule became commonly known as East Edofasia (Kanadiaans: Ost-Edofasien; Edofasian: Oirthear Éidobhasia), and were granted a high degree of self-government and autonomy in 1920 as the Dominion of Edofasia (Kanadiaans: Herrschaftsgebiet Edofasien; Edofasian: Tiarnas na hÉidobhasia).
