The History of the World is the history of mankind from prehistoric times to the present day.
Overview
Timeline
Here is a brief timeline of significant events throughout world history in chronological order:
- ~2,000,000 BCE: The earliest known signs of hominid life in the east date from around this time, in the Yaolan province of modern-day Great Huan.
- ~3000 BCE: Early dynastic civilisations form along the fertile coastlines of the southernmost tip of contingent Kaltachia, coexisting in relative peace.
- ~500 BCE: The Cape Natives and the Southern Cask Natives settle the Northern Cape of present-day Candanadium and in Caskhomir.
- 0: The events of Year 0 have worldwide ramifications. In Akarea, widespread disease and famine undermine the authority of the Akarean dynasties, leading to the Era of Warring States.
- ~400 CE: In Akarea, early irrigation methods are discovered by the farmers of the Huan dynasty; by ending the famine there, the Huan dynasty overtakes the entire peninsula through sheer overwhelming manpower ending the Era of Warring States. The peninsula is declared Great Huan, and the Huan dynasty becomes the Akarean Empire. In Kaltachia, The Trefjalli leave the Isle of Kaltach for lands along the River Tref.
- ~600 CE: The Oseanians are exiled from the lands of the Trefjalli, presumably due to a religious schism. The Caskaans leave the Isle of Kaltach and land in present-day Caskhomir, founding the city of Port Cask.
- ~800 CE: The Slavayans emerge as an ethnic group in North Terra. Oseanian settlement stretches from the eastern bank of the River Tref to the Belkhomirian coast.
- ~1000 CE: The Cape Native and Southern Cask Native civilizations are wiped out, presumably from disease. The Great Trek of the Caskaans begins.
- 1107 CE: The Kanadiaans, led by Wilhelmus von Magnare, leave the Isle of Kaltach and land in Belkhomir.
- 1127 CE: The Kanadiaans Conquest of present-day Candanadium ends with the death of Wilhelmus von Magnare and the Kanadiaans and Oseanian victory over the Trefjalli at the Westmark. The cities of Konigstadt and Fort Magnar are founded on Maple Bay.
- 1696: The Akarean Empire reaches its height, controlling Hykko (including Bantang), Hautsing, Satoyama, Gaanglanglataar, Suiland, the Danpian island belt and a ninety mile stretch of the south-eastern coast of Kaltachia. Advances north are thwarted by the terrain and Cenaesian intervention. Akarean technology is insufficient to sail further south.
- 1700: The Confederation of the Realms of the Conqueror, comprising the Kingdom of Magnarstaat, the Kingdom of Fischerstaat, the Kingdom of Oseania, the Grand Duchy of Eisenstaat, and the Principality of the Westmark and the Cape is formed in present-day Candanadium.
- 1767: The Akarean Empire and the Confederation of the Realms of the Conqueror form an official alliance. Trade routes are established between Kaltachia and the historically relatively isolated region of Akarea via Hautsing, control of which is gifted to the Confederation. White Kaltachs and Akareans begin to mix. The Great Cultural Era begins.
- 1783: On November 11, the Kingdom of Candanadium is formed from the Confederation of the Realms of the Conqueror.
- 1860s: The industrial revolution reaches the Akarean Empire. The Emperor Min Huan conscripts all fit and healthy Akareans into indentured servitude, ending the Great Cultural Era and beginning the Great Struggle.
- 1864: The Jokullheime Raids along the northern Kaltachian coast approach Candanadium; Oberjarl Aljax of Jokullheim challenges King Hans von Magnar of Candanadium in single combat for rights to the city of Port Newcastle. Hans I slays Aljax in single combat in the last instance of formal duelling in the Kaltach world, becoming Oberjarl of Jokullheim in the process.
- 1919: In Akarea, the emperor Min Huan dies at 73. His heir Zhou Huan becomes the Emperor. Despite hopes that the new Emperor might bring an end to the Great Struggle, conditions deteriorate further. Ethnically Huan Hautsingers are now considered Akarean and are forced into indentured servitude upon entering the Empire, which controls all land surrounding Hautsing. Candanadium condemns the emperor Zhou Huan. The indentured servants of the Akarean Empire form the People's Army, a civilian milita. They begin to resist the empire leading to the Massacre of Orlig which, alongside Candanadium's resistance in Hautsing, kickstarts the Labourers' Revolution.
- 1922: In Akarea, the People's Army breaches the final line of imperial defence. Nearly one million resistance members torch the Heavenly City to the ground, and the emperor Zhou Huan is publicly executed. The Akarean Empire is disbanded and the Akarean Union is established in its place, with invites sent to all former territories of the Empire save for Hautsing, control of which is returned to Candanadium. All accept, except for mainland Hykko and Satoyama. Hykko forms an independent republic, whilst socioeconomic tensions in Satoyama lead to the Division of Satoyama into West Satoyama which joins the Union and East Satoyama which does not.
- 1968: The handover of East Edofasia occurs on January 1, bringing about Edofasian reunification.
- 1989: The Sun Yan Daimei crisis happens in Suiland, in which a nuclear reactor meltdown is closely avoided after a malfunction. Radioactive particulate matter is released into the environment.
